The home at 1117 Assiniboine Avenue was built in 1894, with an addition being added around 1916. In 1911, the home was purchased by glazier David Sodomsky. In 1916, Sodomsky became a grocer and had the addition built to accommodate his store. Sodomsky lived and worked at the address until 1923. The home and storefront was then occupied by Lloyd Freedman and Freedman Grocery (1925); Hyman Cooperman and Cooperman Grocery (1927-1935); and Mike Brechka and his grocery store (1937-1955).
