This beautiful Queen Anne-style home was built in 1907. The 2 ½ storey brick structure exhibits a hipped roof with hip and gable-shaped dormers. The roof is trimmed with flared wide eaves, thick moulding detail, and brick corbelling. One of the home’s most distinguishing features is a large brick pendant. A decorative gable sits atop the house, adorned with decorative shingles and a window with fan lights and a detailed brick voussoir. The open verandah, a classic feature of Queen Anne-style homes, is embellished with columns, column plinths, and a pediment. Other decorative elements include bevelled glass and ornamental windows with detailed brick sills, surrounds, and voussoirs.

The home originally belonged to prominent community member Alfred R. McDiarmid. McDiarmid owned McDiarmid & Clark, a lumber dealership and planning mill, along with partner John Clark. In 1919, McDiarmid was elected mayor of Brandon. He resided at 451 3rd Street until 1911.
