Edmund Fulcher constructed this large Prairie-style home as his own personal residence in 1925. Fulcher was a building contractor as well as an active member of the Socialist party. In addition to his own home, many of the houses on 22nd Street were built by Edmund Fulcher. He resided at 404 22nd Street until 1943, when he sold the house to physician Dr. Brace J. Baker.
The design exhibits a gently sloping roof, wide eaves and overhangs, and an emphasis on horizontal lines, making it an excellent example of Prairie-style architecture. The home is styled with a decorative shingle belt, detailed brickwork, and windows encased with decorative sills, surrounds and voussoirs. The design also features an open porch and an enclosed second-storey balcony.
