The small brick cottage at 337 11th Street was built in 1898. Like many workers cottages, the home saw many residents come and go over the years. Among the home’s longest-staying residents are bricklayer Frank Wheeldon and machinist James Butcher, who lived in the house from 1907 to 1919 and from 1927 to 1935, respectively. The design offers simple details such as a decorative brick belt and a gable roof with bargeboard trim. What sets the cottage apart from others on the street, however, are the windows; the top half-storey of the cottage is adorned with two segmental transom light windows, and, on the main storey, a lunette window sits atop a large display window. The windows are further embellished by decorative sills and voussoirs.
