This house, built by E.R. Smiley for $2,000, is one of the few examples of Second Empire style architecture to be found in Brandon. This style is most commonly associated with a mansard roof, but the style has other distinguishing features as well. The varities of windows are unique elements to this house. Decorative surrounds, display and double hung windows offer an added touch of class. Some of the more notable of these are pronounced decorative relief in the form of quoins and dormer windows with molded surrounds.
