This Queen Anne-style home was built in 1904 for Thomas James Somerville. Somerville came to Brandon in the early 1890s to establish his business, Somerville & Co. Marble Works. Somerville passed away in 1916, leaving the home to his wife, Elizabeth. Elizabeth remained in the home until her own death in 1937. In 1943, the home was converted into suites.

Designed by architect W.N. Lailey, the home is elegantly decorated with columns, pilasters, and intricate carving detail. An enclosed verandah decorated with columns and rows of windows wraps around the home’s exterior.  The roof is trimmed with wide eaves, dentils, and moulding. Double-hung and palladian windows are adorned with decorative sills, surrounds, and voussoirs. The property is surrounded by a stone wall.
