This home was designed by Brandon architect and city engineer W.H. Shillinglaw.  Although the architectural style is largely Tudor, European and Gingerbread elements can also be seen.  The house was designed for Henry Fitzgibbon Maley, president of the Brandon Brewing and Bottling Company, at a cost of $12,500. Maley lost the house four years after it was built when prohibition spelled the end of the brewing business. Dr. Henry McDiarmid purchased the property at that time and it remained in the McDiarmid family for two generations. The building has previously served as a bed and breakfast, and currently houses the Westwind Eating Disorder Recovery Centre.
