The Brandon YWCA opened in 1907 at its first location on 14th Street. In 1909, the YWCA relocated to 11th Street, and by 1917 the cornerstone of the current building at 148 11th Street had been laid.

The construction of the new building was made possible by the bequest of local businessman Henry Meredith. In 2002, the building was renamed Meredith Place in honour of its benefactor. Designed by F.R. Evans and built by contractor Charles Hall, the structure boasts fine exterior detailing including carvings, columns complete with plinths, a decorative brick belt, and brick pilasters. The windows feature decorative sills and surrounds, as well as decorative voussoirs. The design also incorporates a battlement atop an open porch, and an inscribed date stone.
