This home is the third house in a row to be built on speculation by the Bell Brothers in 1895. The houses’ similarity and proximity to one another lent some economy to their investment venture; but the architectural detailing suggests the builders did not scrimp on quality. Notice for example, the roof brackets, the bull's-eye window, the raised bands of brick that encircle each building, and the arches above the semi-circular windows. All of these features enhance the buildings' overall appearances.

For much of its history, ownership of the home changed every few years. The house’s size made it suitable to accommodate both owners and boarders at one time. In fact, from 1931 to 1945 the house was operated as a boarding house owned by Mrs. Mary Wilson.
