This distinctive Bungalow-style home was built in 1926. The design showcases many typical Bungalow characteristics, such as a low-pitched hipped gable roof extending over an open front porch; brackets; columns with over-sized piers; and a large chimney. The exterior combines stucco plaster and brick finishes. Also incorporated into the design are an enclosed porch, bay window, and side lights. The home was built for Alexander Reid, proprietor of Reid’s Grocery. Reid’s Grocery was advertised as “The Home of Good Things to Eat”, and specialized in “fancy groceries, fruits, and provisions”. Alexander Reid passed away in 1939, leaving the home to his wife, Margaret. Margaret lived at 451 16th Street until her own death in 1964.
