This 1 ½ storey building was originally home to Thompson’s Groceries and Confectionary. The business was established in 1923 by Arthur Thompson. For its first two years, the business was run next door at 764 13th Street. In 1925, the business moved to 762 13th Street. It operated here for two years, under the management of Alexander Thompson. Thompson’s relocated in 1929. The building continued to serve as a grocery store, but passed through the hands of a number of different owners. In 1935, Thompson’s Groceries moved back to 762 13th Street. It was owned and operated by Arthur Thompson until the mid-1950s. The building was then sold to Frank Fitzpatrick, who opened an upholstery store at the address.
