This Art Moderne-style home was built in 1946. The design offers such details as decorative pendants, display windows, and structural overhangs above the main entrances. The earliest occupant of the house was William G. Chapman, an insurance agent who was employed with Manufacturers Life Insurance. The building was constructed adjacent to the Churchill Apartments at 441-443 12th Street. This home was built in the early 1900s and originally belonged to Alexander Shewan, of Nation & Shewan Ltd. The large house was later divided, becoming the Churchill Apartments.
