Built in 1909, this Queen Anne-style home originally belonged to Philip Purcell, editor of the Brandon Sun. Purcell lived here until 1913, when it was sold to Reverend F. Beer. Reverend Beer was the pastor of the First German Lutheran Church, which was located on the corner of Louise Avenue and Dennis Street. It was then owned by Collegiate Institute teacher John Boyd before being sold to Arthur J. Crouch. Crouch was the manager of the Wheat City Tannery. He resided at 343 3rd Street for over thirty years.

The home’s most distinguishing feature is a large turret with its canted bay window. The turret accents a hipped roof with flared wide eaves. Other details include a canopy, an enclosed porch, and a detailed display window.
