The small workers cottage located at 220 12th Street was built in 1884, two years after the city was incorporated. The home is simple in design with a gable roof, structural overhang, and bay window. The earliest known owner of the home is Elizabeth M. Driver, who immigrated to Canada from Ireland. She lived here with her sister, Jane S. Driver, as early as 1906 and remained until her death in 1931. Jane continued to live in the home until 1941, when it was sold to Charles Thomson. Thomson, too, was a long-term owner of the house and resided here for over fifteen years.
