The Reno Hotel was built in 1910 by architect W.H. Shillinglaw. Until the opening of the Prince Edward Hotel in 1912, the Reno Hotel was considered Brandon’s finest hotel. The hotel was converted to the Belvidere Apartments in 1918. The original façade was constructed with white sandstone brick from the Brandon Sand & Brick Co.; and unlike other commercial buildings constructed with this material, the original sandstone brick lasted well into the 1980s. The exterior has now been completely remodelled, and stucco plaster now covers a once handsomely decorated structure.
