1239 Lorne Avenue and its identical neighbour at 1229 Lorne Avenue were erected by the Bell Brothers. Irregular in shape with a prominent tower, the building is in the Queen Anne style. Notable features include the over-hanging gable supported by knee braces, and the bull's-eye diamond shaped motifs in the tower. The cresting, often seen on Queen Anne buildings to enliven the roof-line, is one of the few examples remaining in Brandon. The finish material in the gables is pressed metal that resembles wood. George Vincent, an early occupant, was a partner of Vincent and MacPherson Furniture and Undertakers.
