This Gingerbread-style home was built in 1931. Douglas B. Meikle, a salesman at Harris Abattoir, was the home’s first owner. Ownership changed every one or two years until 1947, when the house was purchased by Ernest C. Tatton of Tatton Agencies. Tatton resided at 351 22nd Street for over ten years. The home is sheltered by a steeply pitched gable roof and a decorative gable. The design’s most prominent feature is the massive chimney, which is decorated with brick and stone detailing. Other decorative elements include exposed Tudor beams, shutters, transom lights, and decorative window surrounds.
