This English Cottage was built in 1905. The gable roof is embellished with a decorative gable and trimmed with brackets, wide eaves, friezes, and moulding. The main entrance is decorated with curved stairs as well as a hood over the door. The exterior also boasts columns, flared walls, and paned glass windows. The home was built by carpenter and contractor Thomas C. Johnston, who lived in the house for a year before selling it. The home’s longest-staying occupant was Joseph Elgood. Elgood was an electrician for the Brandon Electric Light Co. He resided at 737 8th Street for nearly thirty years.
