The earliest known owner of this 1 ½ storey brick home was Henry L. Adolph. Adolph worked as a lawyer, and resided here in the early 1900s, if not sooner. H.L. Adolph also served as a city alderman and was elected mayor in 1909. He lived here until 1908, when he moved to his new residence at 1540 Lorne Avenue.

The style is distinctly Italianate with its low-pitched truncated roof, wide eaves, and decorative brackets. Also indicative of the architectural style are details such as a decorative brick belt, arched entrance, pediment, and segmental windows. The home is adorned with quoins, and windows with decorative lintels, sills, surrounds, and voussoirs.
