This Queen Anne-style home was built in 1898. The exterior boasts an open verandah, second-storey balcony, and a pent extension. The hipped roof features both hip and gable-shaped dormers. The roof is trimmed with bargeboard, dentils, and flared wide eaves. Additional details include columns, a decorative shingle belt, shutters, and display windows. The home’s earliest known owner was Mr. George A. Stewart, a building contractor who lived and worked at this address. The house changed ownership every one or two years until it was purchased by Ernest C. Tatton in 1927. Tatton lived at 617 13th Street, along with numerous boarders, until 1945.
