This Bungalow-style home was built in 1932. The single-storey design features a gable roof with wooden trim and a brick chimney. A structural overhang extends over the main entrance. The windows are adorned with decorative surrounds. The home’s most prominent feature is a decorative gable embellished with a carving of a bison. The home was originally owned by physician Dr. D.L. Johnson. Another noteworthy owner is John Hammond Irwin, the first principal of Earl Oxford Junior High School. Irwin lived at 438 22nd Street from 1945 to 1947.
